How Selling Hair is Like Trying to Get the Girl: How to Warm up Your Audience
Share
I know this sounds a little unorthodox but hear me out.
Did you witness anyone pick up a partner using a line like ‘’marry me!’’.
Of course not, the protocol for dating is pretty similar to selling hair online.
The dating scene can be as brutal as the e-commerce landscape.
Should you be clingy, ignorant, charismatic, calm, talkative, or outgoing?
Should you be yourself?
I won’t prolong any further, let’s dive in to know what I mean.
First Date
The creative teams in marketing agencies can spend weeks communicating among themselves and with the account manager to get to figure out a 4-6 words sentence.
This sentence can be a campaign slogan or a brand tagline to position the brand in the market.
It’s like the pick-up lines, don’t you think?
A person can brainstorm with himself a 5-word line that sums up their personality to tell in a short time window to win the partner over.
The same goes for that potential prospect encountering your website for the first time and being hit with a thousand pop-ups, spin wheels, and lead magnets.
This aggressive approach is very repulsive.
Imagine if you walked into one of Private Label Showrooms and we immediately asked you for your email, phone, and all your personal information.
It would be insane!
You’re not selling, you’re killing the vibe.
Second Date
The first base is the first impression, the second base is adding products to the cart, and the third base is the checkout.
But how to warm up the prospect throughout this?
You should introduce yourself to your date, that is why there is an About Us page.
You may share contact information, that is why there is a Contact Us page.
In the early dates, you try to be impressive, somehow you restore all the information about lost empires, cosmetic knowledge, and weird physics theories.
You need to be as interesting to your customer.
Tell them what they don’t know about the products.
Write hair blogs solving their problems with the installation and maintenance.
Be proactive and reach out to them and answer their questions.
Being responsive is a very important competitive edge.
If you neglect them, they can move on to the next search result.
Third Date
You can be getting comfortable by now.
But imagine if you texted a girl at 2 A.M to ask her to come over to your house.
She would get out, but out of the relationship.
Think of your hair email marketing the same way.
No one wakes up to spend money or spend money before sleeping.
If you send an email in the afternoon, maybe you will get a better response.
Now assume she is coming over and you sent her instructions like a third house down the street on the right side.
I think anyone will get lost and lose interest respectively.
But if you send a Google Maps link, it would be more convenient.
Your website should be easy to navigate, like an old home.
That way customers have a smooth sailing through your website to make a purchase.
You will keep educating your audience, to get more sales.
Out of every 100 persons, 1 person will buy.
These are the optimistic numbers.
But if you remain valuable, helpful, and interesting, you can sustain a long-term relationship.
And maybe they will ask you out on a fourth date.
